The Surabaya Education Museum is a thematic museum established as a step to preserve the nation’s history and culture with the aim of supporting education, research, and recreation activities in Surabaya. Inaugurated by Tri Rismaharini on 25 November 2019, it displays collections of Education in the Pre-Literacy, Classical Period, Colonial Period, and Independence Period. It is located on Jl. Genteng Kali No 10 Surabaya, which is an ex-building of Taman Siswa school.

PRE-SCRIPT ZONE
The Education Zone in this era may look very simple and basic, but it also teaches one of the most important essences of knowledge that remains relevant until this era, survival. In this zone, there is a collection of Ancient Manuscripts in the 1800s. Manuscripts made from Lontar leaves and Pre-Script Dioramas (Primordial man)

KINGDOM ZONE
In this zone, influences and patterns from outside the archipelago that are assimilated by local elements make education in this era more dynamic and interesting than before. The various spread (of religion) and knowledge distributed even have their own types of aksara (script).

COLONIAL ZONE
The Colonial Zone tells about the Dutch and Japanese Colonial era Education. Collections related to this Colonial zone include teacher’s Bicycle, Zundapp bikes for taking students to school, etc.

INDEPENDENCE ZONE
Independence Zone displays collections related to civil education from 1945 to 1990.
